Pit Bull killed after getting loose.

A Clinton Township family is looking at legal options against a police officer who shot their pit bull, Blue, while they were on vacation.

Fox 2 reports that while the Kurbson family was gone, relatives looked after the dog. But one day, Blue got loose and a neighbor reported that the dog was roaming the neighborhood.

Other neighbors tell Fox 2 that they thought a dispatched police officer would return Blue to the Kurbson's back yard. Instead, one neighbor says that "he had been bitten before and didn't want to take any chances."

When the officer told another neighbor, Adriane Wilson, that he was going to shoot the dog, she thought he was kidding. Wilson says that
the officer replied that he didn't like dogs before shooting him.
"How could anyone just shoot an animal? That's totally unreasonable," Janda Kurbson told Fox 2 by phone. She and her family were also issued a $600 ticket for having a loose dog.
